The 17th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) organised by Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series was held from February 1st to February 5th, 2024, in the lively city of Jaipur. The festival made the city a focus point for literary experiences and cultural exchange. An annual event which takes place at Hotel Clarks Amer, one of the prestigious hotels in the city, once again celebrates the fact that words can bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together under one roof.
The year 2024 JLF began with its Flagship Event 'Opening Night', attended by Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, to lay the baton for a wholesome experience. Invoking the clarion call to embark on "literary tourism," the festival enticed visitors to unveil the world of genre-, language-, and culture-varied literature.
A characteristic that distinguished the JLF 2024 was its adherence to environmental sustainability. The green initiatives ranged from using eco-conscious practices to art installations made from recycled materials and were an expression of the festival’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint as well as to increase its cultural impact.
The speakers and artists who came to the festival were equally nothing less than impressive with up to 550 participants drawn from all over the world to share their views on numerous topics was a great thing indeed. From acclaimed authors and award winners such as Neha Jhalani Hiranandani, Vir Sanghvi, Sudha Murthy, Gulzar and so on to emerging talents and local voices, JLF at the Farm 2024 was an open stage for great discourse that went beyond the boundaries of the globe.
Guests had the opportunity to not only attend book launches but also interact with and learn from their beloved authors. Some of the highly anticipated book releases at the event included 'Chabiyan Umeedon Ki' by Mamta Pandit, iParent by Neha Jhalani Hiranandani, 'Another Lens: Photography and the Emergence of Image Culture (Volume 4)' edited by Rahaab Allana, 'Ammu' by Asma Khan, 'Shakuntala's Daughter' by Itirani Samanta, and 'Acts of God' by Kannan Gill, among many others.
Apart from the literary sessions of JLF 2024, the Jaipur Music Stage also featured top artists and musical talents while performing across different genres such as folk, jazz, and classical. In sum, the JLF 2024 event provided a shining example of the timeless appeal of literature and its immense influence on people, whether local or global.
